Welcome to the 2017 Alberta Champs
Join us September 16 & 17 in Canmore for an awesome weekend of racing in the outstanding natural beauty of the Canadian Rockies. Events will be held on challenging, fun, high quality maps of some very special terrain. Courses suitable for all ages and levels of experience are on offer - the 2017 Alberta Champs is a chance for beginners to try their new skills on courses designed for less experienced runners, and also a chance for experienced orienteers to test their skills on excellent courses in challenging technical terrain.
Socializing is a big part of the weekend, and the Alberta Orienteering Association (AOA) will be hosting a BBQ on Saturday immediately following the Sprint race at the Canmore Nordic Centre. All race participants and volunteers are free to join, and we will have an option to buy $5 entry to the BBQ for nonracers. AOA will also provide medals for top 3 finishers, and a small prize for the top finisher for each category. Check out the News section for the Juniors Prize Draw and help us make this possible for the kids.
High quality courses are guaranteed, since we are re-using the Long & Sprint courses designed for the 2016 National Championships. Those courses weren't ever used, since at the last minute we had to move the race venues. So we are dusting them off and putting all those hours of course design to good use.
So come on out to Canmore for the weekend of Sept 16/17 and enjoy some good time orienteering, terrific terrain, great socializing, and PRIZES:)
