Course Notes for AOC Long event info on website:
We have heard from a reliable source from inside the Town of Canmore that our permit/permission issues are going to be resolved in a positive way! That means our middle event will be going ahead as planned. We are so happy that things are falling into place....just in time!!! You must think that FWOC organizers like to work under pressure! Not really, but we do seem to be getting lots of practice!
We look forward to seeing you on the weekend! Now, we just need continued good weather! Karen Martino Event Director AOC 2017 The Quarry Lake Map area has been re-opened for public use as of Friday morning Sept. 8, 2017. While this is great news, organizers' are still in a bit of a "holding pattern" as the Town of Canmore has not given us "permission" to hold the event yet. We hope to hear by Monday if we can go ahead with this event at Quarry Lake. Please check back on this website for any updates! We will send out an email to all registrants if we have to cancel this event. Sorry to keep you waiting, but it is out of our hands at this point!
Karen Martino Meet Director Hi all Middle participants,
The 2017 AOC organizers wanted to keep you informed of the situation at Quarry Lake - the site of the Middle event. Currently, as many of you know, there is a bear closure. Here is the link for Alberta Parks to the official site: https://www.albertaparks.ca/parks/kananaskis/canmore-nordic-centre/advisories/#32186 We had hoped that the closure would be lifted but at this point, it has NOT been. If, on Tuesday, September 12 at 6:00pm, the bear closure is still in effect, the Middle organizers will cancel the event. At that point I will email again to let you know. Should we have to cancel, we will offer a partial refund (in cash) which you will pick up at the registration desk. Or you can choose to donate your refund to the club or Orienteering Canada's HPP program:) Please note the Sprint event will go ahead at 2PM as scheduled as will the BBQ. Looking forward to welcoming you to Canmore! Marsha Fehr 2017 AOC Registrar We're happy to announce the O-Store is a sponsor of the event, providing us with support including producing individualized bibs.
The O-Store carries a full range of orienteering supplies. You can browse their store online at o-store.ca Be sure to order any gear in plenty of time to allow for delivery before the races! ![]() Let’s make this event more fun for the Juniors! We would like to reward the Juniors who complete any course with a chance to win a prize from the Prize table. When a Junior completes a course they will receive three raffle tickets. The Junior writes his/her name on the back of the ticket and deposits the tickets into the collection boxes associated with the Prize Packets. We will do the draw at the BBQ. (Everyone is qualified to win one prize). Help us make the prize packets cool and fun for the kids: Parents of participants as well as anyone else who would like to be a sponsor can donate items for the Price Packets. (Some small prizes like stuffies, bandanas, candy bars, water bottles, ice cream cards, gift cards, books etc) If you would like to donate an item, you can bring it to Canmore, but the best is to drop it off at one of the FWOC or EOOC Wednesday night club events. Thanks a lot for your support, we are looking forward the fun. |
